MAUREEN ZACHARKI – Expressing her unique photographic visions of her world while living with Alice in Wonderland Syndrome

“It’s sort of difficult to go outer body to take a photograph of yourself inside your body. It’s much easier to split yourself into pieces… head, face, torso, legs… and focus on the separate parts. If I were a man and photographing a woman and focusing on her individual parts… some would say that I was objectifying her… but we are all made out of parts. When we are kids, we learn that we have two eyes and two ears… two arms and two legs. Our bodies are our abode while we are alive. It’s where our consciousness spends its time. It’s our home in human form.”
